CAROLINE STRETTON
Group Managing Director
Caroline has 30 years’ experience within the highly regulated Life Sciences environment, and has helped to design, develop and commercialise a number of technologically innovative products worldwide. Caroline has worked for a number of medical device and pharmaceutical companies in a variety of roles, most notably as a member of the leadership teams at Touch Bionics and Mpathy Medical Devices Limited. Caroline joined the Board of RUA Life Sciences on 1 April 2020, and holds a PhD in Pure and Applied Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde.

SIMON ROSENDALE
Vascular R&D and Manufacutring Engineering Manager
Simon joined RUA Medical Devices in early 2021 bringing 17 years of engineering experience, most recently within the Medical Device industry, specifically in the manufacture of Vascular grafts. Specialising in process and equipment, Simon is responsible for ensuring all current and new manufacturing processes are designed and controlled with patient safety at the forefront.

STUART ELIAS
Head of Operations
Stuart joined RUA Medical Devices in early 2020 bringing 32 years experience in the manufacture of vascular grafts for medical device manufacturer Vascutek. He is an experienced Production Manager and brings a wealth of experience across many forms of textile manufacturing, including warp and weft knitting, narrow fabric weaving, braiding, yarn preparation, warping and stock control.

SARAH GRANT
Director of Heart Valve R&D and Projects
Sarah holds a PhD in Polymer Chemistry and MSci (hons) in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde. She has over 15 years’ experience and a comprehensive background in polymer chemistry and is also experienced in thermoplastic polyurethane synthesis for medical devices and polymer melt processing. Sarah is responsible for leading the project teams in developing medical device and textile solutions. Sarah joined the Board of RUA Medical on 31 August 2021

ALLAN CASEY
Quality Manager
Allan brings over 24 years’ experience working in the Medical Device industry specifically within the Quality area. Having occupied a variety of roles Allan has vast experience of notified body audits, CAPA investigations as well as leading product transfers to overseas sites. Allan takes job satisfaction in establishing and maintaining the Quality systems to ensure safe and reliable medical devices.

IAIN ANTHONY
Director of Vascular R&D, Quality, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs
Iain was recruited in November 2021 and brings a wealth of relevant cardiovascular medical device experience to the company. Iain has 15+ years’ experience in the medical device industry in both commercial and NHS settings. He was recruited from the Swiss based MedAlliance where he was Director Pre-Clinical / Clinical Regulatory Affairs focusing on development and approval of drug coated coronary and peripheral angioplasty balloons. Prior to this Iain was Head of Clinical Affairs at Terumo Aortic where he developed his knowledge and experience of the global vascular graft business. Iain is a graduate of Glasgow University and has a BSc in Genetics, he also has a PhD from the University of Edinburgh in Neurovirology and Neuopathology. Iain has over 40 peer reviewed publications across a multitude of medical disciplines.

LACHLAN SMITH
Chief Financial Officer
Lachlan is a Fellow of the ACCA with 20 years’ experience in accounting and finance, with the last 14 years spent in leadership roles. Prior to joining RUA Life Sciences Lachlan served as Finance Director at technology companies Silver Cloud Smarter Technology and Equator. Lachlan brings a wealth of experience in financial management, digital transformation and strategic leadership.

WILLIAM BROWN
Chairman
Bill is a chartered accountant with over 30 years’ experience in advising and investing in high growth smaller companies. He launched the first dedicated fund for AIM and was instrumental in the growth and internationalisation of AIM as a member and Chairman of the AIM Advisory Committee. Bill was appointed to the Board of RUA Medical on 1 April 2020 upon acquisition, and has been Chairman since 3 July 2012.

JOHN MCKENNA
Executive Director
John McKenna is a leading marketing expert in the field of cardiovascular devices. With over 30 years’ experience in cardiothoracic surgery, he has helped develop and launched a number of successful devices, including heart valves, large vessel grafts and stents. John has worked for a number of leading medical companies, including Pfizer, Vascutek (Terumo) and CryoLife, and has contacts with both leading heart surgeons and senior executives at the major device companies. John was appointed to the Board of RUA Medical on 1 April 2020 upon acquisition, and has been Director of Clinical Marketing since 2016.
